Flight Training at the Northern Netherlands Aero Club (NNAC) – PPL & LAPL

The Northern Netherlands Aero Club (NNAC), founded in 1932, has over 185 members and is the largest flying club in the region. Based at Groningen Airport Eelde, we provide training for both the Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and the Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (LAPL).

• PPL – Private Pilot Licence
  A PPL allows you to fly most single-engine aircraft across Europe and beyond. Extensions are possible, such as Instrument Rating (IR) for cloud/night flying and Multi Engine Rating (ME). A minimum of 45 flight hours and CBR theory exams are required.
• LAPL – Light Aircraft Pilot Licence
  The LAPL is designed for recreational flying within Europe in light aircraft (up to 2000 kg, max. 4 seats). The training is similar to the PPL but requires only 30 hours of flight time. Additional ratings are only available with a PPL.
• RT – Radiotelephony
  RT certification is mandatory for radio communication with ATC and aerodrome control. It is valid indefinitely.

Training program
The program combines theory and practice. Theory covers 7 subjects (e.g., Airlaw, Navigation, Meteorology) over 14 evening classes of 3 hours each, with mock exams and study materials included. Learning materials are available from the BanAir Pilotshop at the clubhouse.

Practical training usually starts alongside theory. Guided by an experienced instructor, you progress step by step. After around 15 hours, most students complete their first solo flight – an unforgettable milestone. Minimum hours (PPL: 45, LAPL: 30) and a medical certificate are required.

Most students complete their training within 2 years. Once ready, your instructor will arrange the practical exam.
